The Academy of Russian Ballet full-time international programme in dance starts in the second week of September and consists of three terms with one month of training IN RUSSIA in April.
This full time dance programme is suited to Irish gap year and post-leaving cert students. The course is suitable for International students. Consideration requires audition in addition to completion of our application form. Foreign students may provide video material to support the initial application phase. Course numbers are strictly limited. This is a course for those determined to pursue a career in ballet.
Students will train at the Rudolf Nureyev school of ballet in Ufa for one month between April and May of the academic year. Examinations and qualifications awarded will be in Russian standard and part of the collaboration with our Russian partners. The price of the training in Russia is included in the annual course fee.
Monica Loughman Ballet is Ireland’s most prolific ballet company which stages main scale ballet in the national auditorium of The Convention Centre Dublin bi-annually. Subject to audition, students will have the opportunity to dance in these productions as part of Ireland’s most prestigious events on its cultural calendar.
*Irish applicants may apply to the Irish Arts Council‘s outbound travel and training scheme. Monica Loughman Ballet has no control over such applications nor can it provide any interpretation of the criteria for a successful application, which are published here. While the Academy will support applications in any way it can, please direct questions regarding this funding to the Arts Council and note that applications are the sole responsibility of the applicant and must be submitted at least six weeks before the travel and training is to take place.

The course will be located in Ireland’s premier dance training facility – the Dance Addiction Studios in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. This very new facility will be closed for Academy use solely during academic hours. The venue is served by a main bus route from Dublin centre and is highly secure with coffee bar, student lounge and three dance studios with state of the art sprung dance flooring throughout.
For two weeks each year the Academy will welcome estimated Russian dance teachers, primas or other Bolshoi and Mariinsky stars as guest artists to teach the ballet programme.
The course director is Monica Loughman with a roster of extraordinary teachers and guest presenters. The course will also feature advanced sports science focus taught by Irish Olympic specialists and management and marketing training taught by senior managers in the Arts.
